EACH REGION WILL VOTE FOR THEIR OWN COORDINATORS. However, if someone from another region has feedback/concerns on a candidate in another region, please contact directors@wftda.com with concerns during the vetting period.

WFTDA will start working with whichever regional coordinators are in place starting June 2025. If regions with vacancies put forward nominations after this initial election, we will run an election in the next possible election cycle.

Term

For first year elections Seat 2 will be run at a 1-year term to create a staggering of elections. The person who has the most votes gets the 2-year seat (Seat 1).

There is a two-term term limit. (The first one-year term for Seat 2 will not count towards this limit.)

At least 1 seat should be filled by a person actively in a skater role. If only retired skaters or officials are nominated BoD will take this into consideration for elections.

Role

The Regional Coordinator (RC) is the primary liaison between leagues in that region and WFTDA committees, staff and the Board of Directors. The role is a 5-10 hour per week position.

The RC supports the WFTDA by:

  • communicating important WFTDA deadlines, issues, or interests with leagues in their region
  • communicating information about their region and feedback on programs and structures back to the WFTDA
  • providing information and support to teams, officials, and volunteers in the region
  • moderating the online community area for their assigned region
  • attending quarterly Regional Coordinators’ meetings
  • assist with securing Regional Championships hosts and venues
  • assist with recruiting Tournament Head Officials and GTOs for Regional Championships

Regional Coordinators should hold at least quarterly regional meetings with leagues in their region, as well as attend a quarterly Regional Coordinator meeting with WFTDA leadership.

Regional Coordinators should also commit to responding to member inquiries within 48 hours of receipt of the email. They may forward inquiries to others in WFTDA, but this response time is helpful to ensure that members get timely answers.

Selection Process

Each region has 2 Regional Coordinators. Regional Coordinators will be elected by members of their region in the annual May elections and will serve terms that align with the WFTDA Competitive Season (currently two years). There is a term limit of two terms for Regional Coordinators, which will be reassessed should the Competitive Season length change.

Regional Coordinators leaving their position will be asked to remain in the position for the month of July in order to support the onboarding process of their replacement and the start of the new competitive season.

Currently, the WFTDA Regional system includes:

  • Europe
  • Latin America
  • Oceania
  • North America - Northeast
  • North America - South
  • North America - West

We would seek Regional Coordinators for each region, plus one at-large Regional Coordinator to support leagues in geographic areas not represented by competitive regions (Asia, Africa).

Position Requirements

  • Must be an excellent communicator, able and willing to be active on the online community, and to answer email inquiries from leagues and WFTDA
  • Must be familiar with WFTDA and roller derby in a particular region
  • Must be affiliated with a WFTDA team in that region in any role
  • Must be in good standing with the WFTDA (i.e., no grievances)
  • Ability to attend periodic meetings (likely one per quarter to start)

Officials may be Regional Coordinators, however, we would like each Region to have at least one of the two Regional Coordinators participating in roller derby in a Skater role.

Completed nominations must be accompanied by:
· Regional Coordinator Application: https://forms.gle/tTTNRc2eiQQDVuNLA
· Letter of Intent
· Derby resume

Regional Coordinator election materials will be vetted by the WFTDA Board of Directors.
