Hello,

I have some questions about the document “WFTDA Postseason Requirements for Officials”, specifically regarding game count over the past 24 months :

  • Are “national” games accounted as “regulation” ones ?
  • Are MRDA regulation games taken into account? The summary table suggests that they are, but not the text.

@Micro the Officiating History Document Manual explicitly notes that any game that “Follows the Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby, Officiating Procedures, and Risk Management Guidelines as defined by the association selected” can be marked as “Reg” so if they will not accept National and MRDA games that meet that definition, they will need to clarify very loud and very clear.

My own question: If someone filled out a reference for me as a THO, since that reference asked in detail for every role, would those be passed along or should we ask folks to write in again?

@dangermuffin if you are sure your reference also adressed all the positions, then we can move the reference over. If you are unsure, I would recommend asking for a new reference. The ‘positions’ part of the reference form was not required for THO references.

I would like to make an impassioned plea to avoid using Section Breaks (ie multiple pages) in future Google Forms. Why are we hiding the later questions?

As someone who typically prepares my answers in a separate document and then pastes them in, it is frustrating to have to click through multiple pages of (sometimes required) questions just to see what all the questions are before I start. It’s a minor thing, sure, but I don’t understand what benefit there is to having a multi-page form, other than aesthetics.

(having the questions on a single page would have also avoided the specific issue I just ran into, of not realizing the reference questions changed from the THO window to the non-THO window. I just spent several hours writing answers to questions that no longer exist…not a big issue in the grand scheme of things but I’m still cranky about it)

Hi @tosp - I’m interested in understanding why answers from the THO form wouldn’t be brought over by default? I know that when I filled out THO references, I made sure to include position specific feedback so I didn’t need to fill out two references. I’m also not sure exactly what my THO references wrote (outing myself as a candidate, I guess), so I don’t know who should fill out the feedback form a second time.

As a note for the future, can we make sure this is explicitly handled either by a default action of bringing over every piece of feedback from the THO form, or simply have another form for positions separate from leadership?

Again, thank you for all of your hard work sifting through these applications. I know it’s very time consuming for you all!

Hi Dread,

There was clearly something lost in translation here. All references that were given for THO candidates will be added by us to the application for Tournament Officials.

However, not all THO references also gave positional information. It would therefore be in the applicant’s best interest to make sure that there is a reference submitted that contains that information. How that is done is up to the applicant. Does that make it clearer?

For future postseason cycles, we will suggest to have separate reference forms for Tournament Heads and Tournament Officials.

Where is the link to apply as an official? The post mention a January 12, 2026 end date but the link is missing.

Thanks

Original post updated to add the accidentally omitted link.
