Skater Survey on Officiating Certification

Over the past year, we conducted a follow-up survey on Certification and what it means to skaters. This survey was intentionally designed to build on the previous Certification survey, which received significant participation from officials but comparatively little input from skaters.

Certification was originally created in response to skater feedback. Skaters wanted confidence that officials traveling to officiate postseason tournaments met a consistent standard appropriate for that level of competition. While the Certification program has evolved considerably over time, that fundamental purpose has remained the same.

We encourage everyone to review the survey results and consider the perspectives shared by the membership.

The next step is for us, as an organization, to begin discussing what we want Certification to be in the future and what needs it should serve. We now have a clearer understanding of how members feel about the current program, and the work of shaping its future can begin. We look forward to continuing that conversation and will share more information as it becomes available.
