WFTDI GENERAL BOARD MEMBER
Women’s Flat Track Derby, Inc. (WFTDI) is a subsidiary of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). WFTDI operates as a successful insurance business with two subsidiaries: Quad Media, a media and production company, and WFTDI Canada, which provides roller derby insurance in Canada. The organization aims to create an inclusive governance model, explore growth opportunities, diversify revenue streams, and support its subsidiaries and the WFTDA.
Ideal Board Candidate
We seek candidates from BIPOC, marginalized gender, LGBTQIA+, or underrepresented communities who are connected to the roller derby community. The candidate should be passionate about building an ethical and sustainable business model that serves our customers and shareholder.
Board Responsibilities
- Attend at least 75% of Board meetings and commit 5-10 hours of service per month.
- Participate in Annual Shareholder Meetings and undergo ongoing training on anti-racism and anti-colonialism.
- Manage finances, adopt and oversee the annual budget, and ensure the financial structure meets current and future needs.
- Prepare for Board meetings, volunteer for assignments, and participate in strategic planning and organizational evaluations.
- Promote the organization to the public and maintain relationships with media and other organizations.
- Communicate with shareholders about Board activities and organizational direction.
- Oversee policies, governance systems, and Bylaws updates as needed.
- Approve significant actions, compensation policies, and ensure leadership continuity through succession planning.
- Act as a signing officer for documents and perform duties as outlined in the WFTDI Board of Directors Handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.
Term
WFTDA-elected Board Seats are appointed for two-year terms, and other Directors are appointed for one-year terms. All Directors take office immediately after their election/appointment.
