Does no rope now count as Regulation?

From this post
https://community.wftda.org/t/update-to-wftda-sanctioning-policy-late-fees-and-rope-waiver/1563

Given the ability to now apply a waiver to Sanctioned games, does this mean that any game played without rope can now be considered as Regulation instead of Other (because until the waiver, the game was being played outside the standard ruleset and thus hit Regulation)

Or have these always been Reg because the rope requirement isn’t a “rule”, but part of the risk management guidelines?

The raised boundary requirement is in the WFTDA sanctioning policy. So prior to this waiver program all sanctioned games required the rope.

This waiver allows WFTDA Games to approve games to be sanctioned without the rope due to venue constraints.

So any games without rope will not be sanctioned unless approved under this program. The host league should communicate this to officials.

I also outlined which policies should be followed for a game to be regulation in the sanctioning policy. So that should help determine whether you should use other or regulation, but I will let Cert confirm that.

Rope is not required for the game to be regulation. In fact, it has not been required for several years, since we defined it in the sanctioning policy:

A regulation game is a game played according to the following policies with no deviations:

● The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby

● WFTDA Officiating Cues, Codes, and Signals

● WFTDA Officiating Procedures for The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby

The other parts of the sanctioning policy such as rope are not required for a game to be considered Regulation.
