Hi Derby Community,
We recognize that feedback in the derby community is problematic. Racism, Misogyny, Sexism, Ableism, Amount of data needed, Being afraid to reach out about bad characters, etc., are just the tip of the iceberg. We also know that feedback is an important part of processes in roller derby, Certification, Tournaments, Post-Season Tournaments, traveling officials, etc.
While we cannot 100% eliminate feedback as a source of information, we can improve it. We can improve the feedback given by helping to educate those turning in feedback. We can limit the amount of feedback needed by centralizing it. We can improve the experience for officials and access to their feedback. We can also make the feedback we collected more valuable.
The proposal being submitted to the Derby Community is that we move the collection, storage, review, and summarization of feedback to one central committee. This Committee would live outside of all the committees using feedback.
We need people to build a committee and a process, and once this is built, we need people to run the committee.
