Support Nerds Chair

Position: Tech Support Nerds Chair

The Tech Pillar Support Nerd(s) team is responsible for account management and general technical support of the WFTDA infrastructure systems. The Chair position reports to the Tech Officer. Time commitment is variable with the ebb and flow of work, but a reliably quick online presence is required (expected turn-around time for requests should be within a day or so). At the moment, the Chair is the primary one responsible for the work, but there is opportunity to grow the team as needed. (The current chair and myself will both be available for transition, back-up, and on-going support.)

Mandatory skills needed:

  • Familiarity with general tech support practices and procedures
  • The ability to lead, properly manage time, delegate tasks, and communicate effectively

Additional Qualifications:

  • Existing knowledge of WFTDA’s technological assets and their workings
  • A background in Information Technology with general experience in email management, account administration, end user support, troubleshooting, forum use, moderation, and management, web design or development, and general computer use

General Responsibilities:

  • Work under the Technology Pillar officer to maintain the Support Nerds committee
  • Review applications, hire, and supervise committee members
  • Evaluate support requests, triage issues and delegate high-level items to tech pillar committee members (code monkeys, OO/PS), and follow up with users
  • Perform periodic audits of user accounts and update to current

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a productive support environment that provides quality end user support
  • Assist tech pillar committees and their members as needed
