Not enough rows in the Statsbook

How do you fill the statsbook when the number of Jams + SPs in a period exceeds the number of rows available in the document?
We had this happen in a (dual) sanctioned game last weekend where we had 32 Jams and a number of SPs in Period 2 ending up with 2 rows more than fit in the sheet.

The manual does not cover this scenario.

I have a few ideas but they all have downsides:

  • Adding extra rows without breaking any formulas is probably gonna be difficult. (And even if internal formulas can be preserved, it would break external tools that try to read the period totals.)

  • Moving jams to the sheets for P1 would break the period totals on the IGRF and in the stats.

  • “Forgetting” two SPs where no points were scored after the SP would give (slightly) wrong player stats. But that’s the least bad option I see. (One could add comments so the info on those SPs is not completely lost.)

Is there any official guidance for this or does anyone have a better idea?

I think this is a question that @Sanctioning needs to weigh in on. They’re the ones that are going to need to accept the atypical StatsBook submission.

Mostly because I’m just curious… what did the export from CRG look like?

Sanctioning is fine with whatever the Stats team decides is the best guidance!

CRG just stops exporting when the available rows are filled. So the last two jams were missing from the export.
(And the number of available rows is hardcoded, not auto detected. So providing a modified statsbook would not help without a change to CRG code.)

Apologies for the time it took to get back to this.

The StatsBook team recommends inserting additional lines into the Period. It needs to be done in several places, but we have a draft document to provide instructions.

Thank you. And I’d say 3 days is pretty swift given that the team presumably had to decide on the best course of action and then figure out and test the process described in the document.

And I hope to be able to add support for statsbooks extended in this way to CRG. Progress will be tracked at:

I’ll update the statsbook error checker when I have a chance, but it’s obviously low priority.
